Paint Me a Story is our art and literacy program for children aged 2-12. Our guest readers will read a selected story, and then the children paint a corresponding piece of pottery. We are thrilled to welcome Kristina Smith as our guest reader this month. Kristina is the marketing/communications manager at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums. She promotes all the fun and interesting things happening at the museum, home, library, and arboretum through her job. She takes lots of pictures and videos, creates materials through graphic design, talks with members of the media and visitors, helps plan events, and much more. In her spare time, Kristina is a freelance writer and photographer. Most often, she writes stories about the outdoors, such as features on animals, birding, fishing, and more. She enjoys being out in nature, hiking, looking for birds and other animals, or going to the beach and spending time with her boyfriend, dog, and two cats. Kristina will read “You Will Be My Friend!” by Peter Brown. She selected this story because the main character is a bear named Lucy, which is the name of First Lady Lucy Hayes, and because it involves lots of animals. The book is about the bear, Lucy, wanting to make a new friend and searching the forest for possible friends. It keeps not working out until a flamingo befriends her. After the story is read, the kids will paint an adorable bisque flamingo as a fun keepsake of this event. The cost of this event is $15 (non-refundable) per child. Registration is required by June 17. ACE grants are applicable for this event.https://pottery-perfection.square.site/product/paint-me-a-story-you-will-be-my-friend-/7390?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=4&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR1cw3vexgpWKDZYUzK5fD3BCSOnDdbTDUkr45my1oumIPnH6KFvflnBgGs_aem_AbJhT2eo9tXNzAfSAsSpcLo2t4uML-ARHN8e6imdk1t9i7zvXRWq8iSRbBcnzkSUKjB5h3K6O_aFI0RxZMm–wa7
